District 35-I includes the following counties: Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Sarasota and Polk County South of Highway 60.

Governor

Robert E. "Bob" Woomer

Lion Robert E. “Bob” Woomer was elected District Governor at the Sub District Convention in April, 2007.  Since moving to Naples in 2003,  Lion Bob has been a member of the Naples Nites Lions Club and is currently serving as the Club Treasurer.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Valerie, 47 years ago. They have two children and six grandchildren.  Lion Bob retired in 2003 after 43 years in the graphic arts business. 

District Governor Bob has had perfect attendance since joining Lions in 1975 as a member of the Hilton Lions Club in District 20-E1 in New York.  In 1991 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia.  His job in the Graphic Arts Industry took him into 35-L where he served the Jacksonville Beach Lions Club as Tail Twister, a position he thoroughly enjoyed. 

Lion Bob has demonstrated District Leadership by serving as Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer 20-E1, Cabinet Secretary 18-A , Cabinet Treasurer 35-I.  In addition he has been  Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, Public Relations Chairman, Trading Pin Chairman, Long Range Planning Committee member,  Fund Raiser Chairman, and member of M.E.R.L.O.W. team as the Leadership Chairman and participated in many other club and District activities.

Lion Bob has attended 13 MD-20 conventions, 10 MD-18 conventions,4 MD-35 conventions, 10 International Conventions, attended 3 USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forums.

He has earned the 100% President award, was presented Lion of the Year by his club and has earned the Membership Key, 18 District Governor awards and has achieved Perfect Attendance for 31 consecutive years, an honor he is extremely proud of.   Lion Bob is a Melvin Jones Fellow.
